Cheri Attix, Esquire, is an immigration attorney in private practice
in San Diego, California. Since opening her law office in 1997,
she has successfully represented over 200 asylum applicants. She
is a member of the American Immigration Lawyer's Association (AILA)
and currently serves as that organization's local liaison to the
U.S. CIS Asylum Office in Anaheim. From 1998 to 2003, served on
the Board of Directors of Survivors of Torture, International,
a San Diego non-profit that provides psychological, medical, and
case management services to survivors of politically motivated
torture.
Ms. Attix is a graduate cum laude of the California Western School
of Law in San Diego, and a former executive editor of that school's
International Law Journal. Prior to attending law school, she
serviced as a Peace Corps volunteer teacher in rural Thailand.
She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Scripps College where she
majored in International Relations. During college she interned
with the Western Sahara Campaign for Human Rights in Washington,
D.C. and studied Japanese language and culture in Nanzan University
in Nagoya, Japan.
